Landscape

Carleton E. Watkins

Yosemite Falls, 1878-1881, St. Louis Art Museum, Missouri

I chose this landscape because I like how you can see the waterfall in the opening of the two trees. I like how you have to look harder to actually see the falls, and I like the contrast in the photo. I haven't been there but I think that it would be pretty to visit. My favorite parts of the photograpg are the two dark trees in the front of the photo and the waterfall in the back of the photo. The color is in black and white. It helps to show the contrast of the colors in the photo. I would like to see this photo in color. I think the composition is really good. I like how the waterfall is in the opening of the trees. The only thing I would change about the photo is make it in color. If I could be there right now I would take photos of the waterfall. I would put myself right in between the two trees looking out at the waterfall.
